STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -Joe Paterno will start another milestone season where he’s spent most of the past six decades: on the Penn State sideline.
The Hall of Fame coach says he’s excited after spending most of the 2008 season in the press box with a sore hip. The 82-year-old Paterno had surgery last November, and he’s been on his feet on the practice field since the spring with the No. 9 Nittany Lions.
JoePa says he may not run out on the field because his doctors are still a little nervous about the hip. But he says he’ll definitely be pacing the sideline once again.
Paterno is entering his 60th season at Penn State – 16 as an assistant and 44 as the head coach.
