SAN DIEGO (AP) – Donnel Pumphrey rushed 19 times for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns as San Diego State had little trouble with Northern Arizona, blowing the Lumberjacks away 38-7 on Saturday.
Each of Pumphrey’s touchdowns came from 1 yard out. Quinn Kaehler added an 18 of 29 performance through the air for 205 yards and a touchdown, extending his streak of 200 yard passing games to 13.
The Aztecs scored the first 24 points of the game, pitching a shutout until well until the third quarter, before a Casey Jahn 1 yard run finally put the Lumberjacks on the board with 6:36 left in the period.
The meeting was just third time the Aztecs and Lumberjacks have ever met, and the first since 1966. San Diego State also won the first two meetings.
