COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) – Maryland wide receiver Levern Jacobs and free safety A.J. Hendy have been suspended for the season for violating the school’s student code of conduct.
Coach Randy Edsall announced the decision on Friday, one day before the Terrapins open the season at home against James Madison.
Jacobs led the team with 47 catches last season and was expected to be a key contributor to the passing game this year.
Hendy, a senior, was the backup to Anthony Nixon at free safety.
Both were reportedly involved in a fight last month.
Edsall says, ”They showed poor judgment and failed to uphold the standards of a student-athlete at the University of Maryland.”
