STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) – Oklahoma State opens the season with some serious questions on deck.
The football program is awaiting the results of an internal investigation launched after a Sports Illustrated report last season suggested the Cowboys had committed numerous NCAA rules violations dating back years.
A more immediate test will come Saturday against No. 1 Florida State. Mike Gundy’s Cowboys have been among the nation’s best with 59 wins since 2008. But the matchup with the Seminoles comes after the loss of about half of last year’s letter winners.
Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said Oklahoma State is in a good place with Gundy. The Cowboys have won at least 10 games three of the past four years, and Gundy has a 77-38 record in nine seasons.
