STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) – Coach Mike Gundy says he’s thrilled with all the attention No. 9 Oklahoma State has been getting after matching its highest preseason ranking in school history.
There’s still one thing missing: a championship.
Gundy said Thursday there’s an “up and down” effect from all the hype leading up to next week’s season opener against Louisiana-Lafayette. He believes it started in the spring, fizzled out and then came back.
He sees the challenge in trying to improve on a surprising 11-win season in which the Cowboys shared the Big 12 South title for the first time.
Quarterback Brandon Weeden says he believes Oklahoma State should win every game “but I know realistically it’s going to be a dog fight every time.”
