OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -Former University of Nebraska running back Thunder Collins has been convicted of first-degree murder in the September 2008 shooting death of a man in Omaha.
A Douglas County jury on Monday also found Collins guilty of attempted second-degree murder, felony assault and two weapons counts.
Collins was arrested a day after 38-year-old Timothy Thomas was killed and another man was seriously wounded in a shooting in Omaha.
Prosecutors say the shooting stemmed from a botched drug deal in which Collins masterminded a plan to rob the men, who were from California.
Collins screamed at the jury on his way out of the courtroom: “Are you happy? Are you happy? You know I didn’t kill anyone!”
Sentencing is set for Nov. 12.
