LOS ANGELES (AP) -USC quarterback Aaron Corp expects to return to practice next week, keeping him in the race with Matt Barkley and Mitch Mustain to be the Trojans’ starter next month.
Corp participated in live throwing drills again Wednesday, making dropbacks while wearing a helmet for the first time since sustaining a small break in a bone below his left knee Aug. 10.
Corp was chosen as the Trojans’ replacement for Mark Sanchez out of spring ball, but was hurt in USC’s second practice of camp. Barkley, the Trojans’ touted freshman, has led the first-team offense for much of the last week.
Corp will resume running this weekend. Coach Pete Carroll says Corp still has time to be ready for the Trojans’ season opener against San Jose State on Sept. 5.
