TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) – Arizona has another drawn-out quarterback battle on its hands.
A year ago, coach Rich Rodriguez waited until the first game before revealing B.J. Denker as his starter. Denker stayed under center the entire season, though that may not happen again this season.
Coming off a second straight eight-win season under Rodriguez, the Wildcats have plenty of talented options at quarterback, just no clear-cut favorite yet.
Redshirt freshman Anu Solomon has gotten most of the first-team reps in fall camp, though former USC quarterback Jesse Scroggins isn’t too far behind.
Arizona also has Texas transfer Connor Brewer and LSU transfer Jerrard Randall in the mix.
But the coach may not pick just one quarterback. He’s used two in the past and has said he wouldn’t be afraid to do it again.
