SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -Brian Kelly is just three weeks away from his first game as Notre Dame coach.
He’s given his debut some thought. He’s wondered how it will feel when he charges onto the field Sept. 4 when the Irish host Purdue.
Expectations could not be higher in South Bend this season. Kelly has not shied away. He says his plan is to win immediately behind quarterback Dayne Crist and a bunch of other players he didn’t recruit.
The Irish host rival Michigan on Sept. 11, then travel to Michigan State.
