LOS ANGELES (AP) -The Los Angeles Times is reporting Southern California freshman running back Dillon Baxter has been suspended for the season opener at Hawaii.
Trojans coach Lane Kiffin said Wednesday that Baxter was suspended for violating team rules, but gave no details.
Kiffin says “it was imperative to make a strong message, especially to our first group of freshmen our first year here, and potentially the most talented player on the team, that we have high standards for our players on and off the field.”
Baxter was one of the stars of spring practice for USC and was expected to have a significant role in the Trojans’ offense.
