BOSTON (AP) -After missing all of last season fighting cancer, Boston College linebacker Mark Herzlich missed the Eagles’ opening practice with a foot injury.
Herzlich had an X-ray on his right foot, and it was negative.
Herzlich was the Atlantic Coast Conference defensive player of the year in 2008. But he announced in May 2009 that he would miss the upcoming season after being diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer often found in bone or soft tissue.
He was pronounced cancer-free in October.
Defensive tackle Damik Scafe also missed practice Monday, due to a back injury. Defensive tackle Kaleb Ramsey has not reported for fall camp due to undisclosed personal reasons.
