CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -Clemson quarterback Kyle Parker says he’s returning for his sophomore season and plans to continue negotiating with the Colorado Rockies.
Parker threw 20 touchdowns as a freshman starter last fall, then hit 20 homers for Clemson’s baseball team and was picked with the 26th overall pick by the Rockies last month. Whether Parker was going to play baseball full-time or return to Clemson was perhaps the biggest question on campus, but he ended the drama Wednesday morning with his decision.
Parker says he was ready to get going on football workouts and prepare for the season. Clemson reports to training camp on Aug. 3.
Parker says all his options are open as far as his ultimate choice and he’ll keep talking with Colorado about a baseball contract.
