HOOVER, Ala. (AP) – Bret Bielema once again faced SEC media days questions about his aversion to uptempo offenses.
The Arkansas coach says he hasn’t softened his stance that they are hazardous to defenders because that would mean backing off on protecting his players.
Earlier Wednesday, Missouri coach Gary Pinkel said the fears about fast-paced systems are ”fiction.” Pinkel says he doesn’t ”buy the health issue in any way.”
The Razorbacks will have to face Auburn’s hurry-up offense in their Aug. 30 opener.
Arkansas is trying to rebound from a winless SEC season. Bielema sees plenty of positive signs from his players off the field, from academics to behavior.
He says quarterback Brandon Allen has had one of the best offseasons Bielema has ”ever seen a positional player have, let alone a quarterback.”
