GLASSBORO, N.J. (AP) -Rowan University athletic director Joy Solomen has been selected to chair the NCAA Division III Football Committee. She is the first woman to hold the position.
Solomen was chosen by the members of the committee and was approved by the NCAA Championships Committee.
She started a four-year term as a committee member last fall, becoming only the second woman to serve on the committee. The first was Debra Warren from Chowan College in 2003-04.
The football committee is responsible for evaluating teams throughout the season, assisting with the selection of teams and the creation of the national championship bracket and assigning crews of officials to work playoff games.
