FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) – Former Florida cornerback Janoris Jenkins will play his senior season at North Alabama, the Division II program led by former Auburn coach Terry Bowden.
North Alabama announced the signing Wednesday. Jenkins was dismissed by new Gators coach Will Muschamp in April after his second arrest for marijuana possession in a four-month span.
Jenkins was considered one of the top cornerbacks in the Southeastern Conference. He contained star receivers such as Georgia’s A.J. Green, Alabama’s Julio Jones and South Carolina’s Alshon Jeffery despite playing much of last season with a shoulder injury that required surgery.
The three-year starter decided in January to return to school for his senior season.
