Penn St fallout lingers year after Sandusky trial Print

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - It's been a year since eight young men took the stand to testify they were sexually abused by former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, but the fallout from the child molestation scandal isn't over.
Penn State is still working on changes to child safety procedures and its internal governance, while lawmakers are proposing improvements to state child abuse laws.
Gov. Tom Corbett recently lost his legal challenge to the NCAA sanctions, which included a $60 million fine and a four-year ban on postseason play. Several other lawsuits remain pending.
The criminal cases against three former university administrators haven't gone to trial, and Penn State is still negotiating with Sandusky victims, hoping to reach out-of-court settlements.
Sandusky is serving a 30- to 60-year prison sentence.
