COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -Now that Nebraska has joined the Big Ten, the schedule-makers are facing some major headaches.
What will be the divisions in football? Where and when will the football championship game be played? Will there be different divisional alignments to balance other sports?
The conference’s athletic directors will meet in six weeks or so to answer questions created last week when Nebraska decided to become the Big Ten’s 12th member beginning July 2011.
Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith said Wednesday that conference officials must decide how many games football teams play within and outside of their divisions, how to balance the competition within divisions.
And there’s always the possibility the conference could add more teams.
