INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The NCAA says more Football Bowl Subdivision athletic departments are turning profits.
It’s all part of a new annual report on revenues and expenses, released Wednesday. Twenty-two FBS schools made money in 2009-10, up from 14 in last year’s report.
Other findings show FBS schools brought in an average of 9.5 percent more money in 2009-10 than the previous year. Football Championship Subdivision schools had an increase of 14 percent over 2008-09.
Excluding inflationary adjustments, FBS athletic department expenses increased 1 percent over 2008-09, while FCS schools had a net decrease of 8 percent in expenses.
