STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) – With two months to go to training camp, the Penn State Nittany Lions don’t have to be in Happy Valley – though it can’t hurt to stick around if you’re competing for the quarterback job.
Signing a slew of autographs, Matt McGloin looked the part of starter while he and about 20 other players participated in the Pennsylvania Special Olympics opening ceremonies Thursday evening at Penn State.
McGloin has been working out informally with receivers including Derek Moye and Justin Brown, the team’s top targets. He’s building rapport while concentrating on leadership skills.
The status of QBs Rob Bolden and Kevin Newsome doesn’t appear to have changed after both left open the possibility of transferring in April. Most players typically return in late June.
