LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) Jail records show one of three Texas Tech football players kicked off the team earlier this month has been charged with felony burglary.
Records show 20-year-old Robert James Castaneda was arrested Friday on a charge of burglary of a habitation, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
Jail records didn’t list attorney information for Castaneda, who has been released on a $5,000 bond.
Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Bryan Taylor had no additional information about what led to the arrest.
Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury kicked Castaneda off the team May 5 for ”failure to uphold student-athlete expectations.” Castaneda would have been a sophomore backup offensive lineman.
Also dismissed were sophomore linebacker Dakota Allen and redshirt freshman tackle Trace Ellison.
