(STATS) – Big Sky Conference football players often find success in the CFL after their college careers. Former Eastern Washington quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. hopes to do the same.
Adams signed a three-year contract with the Montreal Alouettes over the weekend. He had failed to earn an NFL contract after going undrafted last month and had tryouts with the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Redskins earlier this month.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Adams had a prolific career at Eastern Washington, finishing as the runner-up for FCS offensive player of the year in 2013 and ’14. He spent his final season at Oregon as a graduate transfer.
He was named the offensive player of the game at the East-West Shrine Game in January.
“Thank you to all my supporters and believers. Doubters, keep fueling me,” Adams wrote on Twitter.
The BC Lions held the CFL draft rights to Adams before they traded him to the Alouettes for a 2017 first-round draft choice on Friday.
