Pittsburgh running back James Conner says he is cancer-free, less than six months after being diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma.
Conner posted on his Twitter account Monday: ”God is AMAZING. Just got the call that my body is clean of cancer!!!” Been a long road but God has my back. Thanks everyone who said prayers!”
Conner was the Atlantic Coast Conference player of the year in 2014, then tore a ligament in his right knee in the first game of last season. Doctors discovered tumors on Conner’s chest and neck at Thanksgiving and he was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. He started chemotherapy in December.
Conner threw out the first pitch at a Pirates’ game last month and said then he hoped to be ready for the start of Pitt’s season.
