STORRS, Conn. (AP) – Former Big East rivals UConn and Syracuse have announced an agreement to play a home-and-home football series.
Under the agreement, the Huskies will host to the Orange on September 24, 2016 at Rentschler Field in East Hartford and UConn will travel to the Carrier Dome on September 29, 2018.
The teams played nine games between 2004 and 2012, when both schools were members of the Big East. The Huskies won six of those meetings and were 4-0 against the Orange in East Hartford.
The announcement completes both teams’ 2016 non-conference schedules.
UConn will also play home games against Maine (September 3) and Virginia (September 17) and will travel to Gillette Stadium to play UMass (September 10).
Syracuse will host Colgate (September 3) and South Florida (September 17). The Orange also will play Notre Dame at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on October 1.
