FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) -Arkansas running back Brandon Barnett was arrested on an outstanding warrant for a traffic citation Tuesday night.
After getting pulled over, Fayetteville police checked his record and discovered he was wanted on an outstanding warrant in Johnson County, according to Sgt. Mike Cambron of the Washington County sheriff’s office.
Barnett was taken to jail and booked but released on $285 bond. He faces a June 2 court date in Johnson County.
Razorbacks spokesman Kevin Trainor said football coach Bobby Petrino was aware of Barnett’s arrest. Trainor said the arrest stemmed from a traffic citation Barnett received a few years ago.
Barnett competed in the spring with Michael Smith for the starting running back job, with Smith winning out.
