TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – A sheriff’s office report says Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston appeared to pause to avoid walking in front of a deputy before leaving a supermarket without paying for crab legs and crawfish.
The incident report describes surveillance video reviewed by a Leon County sheriff’s deputy. The Florida State University quarterback and relief pitcher signed a civil citation admitting he committed petit theft.
The report says Winston left with three pounds of steamed crab legs and a pound of crawfish. The report says Winston also picked up butter in the store, but it’s not clear if he walked out with it or placed it in a sales bin before leaving the Publix.
Winston was suspended from FSU’s baseball team for three games until he completed community service.
