AUBURN, Ala. (AP) – Auburn defensive end Elijah Daniel is off the football team following his arrest on theft and burglary charges.
Coach Gus Malzahn issued a statement early Thursday saying the 6-foot-2, 282-pound junior from Indianapolis, Indiana, is suspended indefinitely.
Lee County jail records show Daniel was charged Wednesday with four counts of theft and four more counts of burglary. His bond is set at $24,000.
Six of the charges are felonies. The most serious case against Daniel is first-degree theft, which involves property worth at least $2,500 or anything taken from another person.
Authorities haven’t released any details on the charges, and court records aren’t yet available to show whether Daniel has a lawyer.
Daniel played in 13 games last season and started in two.
