DeKALB, Ill. (AP) – A Northern Illinois linebacker who was wounded in a drive-by shooting earlier this month says he faces a lengthy recovery and will not play in 2011.
Devon Butler said Friday he is at least six months away from beginning physical therapy. The junior from Pembroke Pines, Fla., was shot April 5 by a gunman in an SUV as he visited friends in an off-campus apartment building.
Butler was released from the hospital Tuesday after suffering a collapsed lung. A judge has set bond at $1 million each for two NIU students accused in the shooting.
