CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -The Meineke Bowl will be played on New Year’s Eve for the second time.
Bowl officials announced Thursday that this year’s game will be played on Dec. 31 at Bank of America Stadium. Kickoff will be at noon and it will be televised by ESPN.
The date was set after the NFL schedule had the Carolina Panthers on the road for the last weekend of the season, opening the New Year’s Eve date at their stadium.
The Charlotte bowl was also played on Dec. 31 in 2005, when North Carolina State beat South Florida 14-0.
This year’s game again will match teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference and Big East.
