KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Josh Malone, one of the most heralded players in Tennessee’s highly touted freshman class, caught six passes for 181 yards and three touchdowns Saturday in the Orange & White Game that ended spring practice.
Malone had touchdown catches of 49, 6 and 79 yards. Malone’s performance helped the offense beat the defense 129-100 in a scoring system that awarded each unit points for various achievements.
Joshua Dobbs was 6 of 9 for 199 yards with three touchdown passes, and he also rushed for a 59-yard touchdown. Dobbs is part of a four-man quarterback competition with Justin Worley, Riley Ferguson and Nathan Peterman.
The announced attendance of 68,548 represented the second-largest crowd in the Orange & White Game’s 54-year history. Tennessee’s 1986 spring game drew a crowd of 73,801.
