CLINTON, S.C. (AP) -Presbyterian athletic officials say sophomore wide receiver Larry Carlson Thomas has died in a wreck.
Authorities say Thomas lost control of his 2005 Dodge Neon early Friday morning on Interstate 26 in Newberry County. The car struck a guardrail, then hit some trees.
Authorities say Thomas died at the scene, while a passenger was treated at the hospital and released. Neither were wearing seatbelts.
Thomas was a graduate of Edisto High School. The 20-year-old physics major played in eight games last season, catching 41 passes for 539 yards and seven touchdowns.
