LOS ANGELES (AP) -Coach Lane Kiffin says his practices at Southern California will be more work and less fun.
That’s just fine with his Trojans, who seem thrilled with their new coaching staff and its new rules.
USC went through Kiffin’s first spring practice Tuesday, getting in a 2 1/2-hour workout that stretched nearly to dusk on the campus practice fields where Pete Carroll developed the West’s dominant college football program during the past decade.
While Carroll’s practices were fun-packed free-for-alls, his former assistant plans to run a tighter ship at USC. That extends all the way to the sidelines, where visitors won’t be allowed such easy access to practice under new rules announced by the school Tuesday.
