(STATS) – Coming off its best record, Houston Baptist’s young FCS program will kick off the 2017 season at Texas State and play four times at home as part of an 11-game schedule.
The Huskies finished 4-7 last season, earning one more win than in their first two seasons combined. Coach Vic Shealy’s team was 3-5 in the Southland Conference.
This season, Houston Baptist’s road schedule includes the Sept. 2 opener at Texas State. The Huskies will play home games against Southland members Central Arkansas (Oct. 7), Southeastern Louisiana (Oct. 14), Northwestern State (Oct. 28) and Lamar (Nov. 4).
The Huskies are expected to return eight starters on offense and nine on defense.
