TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -Florida State coach Bobby Bowden says the NCAA sanctions calling for forfeiting wins in 10 different sports is too harsh.
The 79-year-old Seminole coach also says he supports the university president’s decision to challenge the NCAA’s bid to have the school vacate victories, including as many as 14 in football.
Bowden’s 382 career wins are just one fewer than all-team major college leader Joe Paterno of Penn State.
Bowden made his first comments on Wednesday night about the NCAA penalties for an academic cheating scandal at the school involving 61 scholarship athletes.
