TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – Florida State University is asking a federal judge to throw out a lawsuit from a woman who says star quarterback Jameis Winston sexually assaulted her.
The university late Monday filed a response to the lawsuit from a former FSU student who claims the school had knowledge of her alleged sexual harassment and discrimination by the quarterback.
FSU maintains the university properly handled her case. But FSU officials also say in a court document that no top officials knew about the allegations against Winston until days before it became public.
Winston was cleared of wrongdoing by FSU following a two-day hearing last year to determine whether he violated sections of the student conduct code. A Florida prosecutor chose not to press charges against Winston, who is expected to be a top pick in the NFL draft.
