CONWAY, Ark. (AP) -Five Central Arkansas football players were suspended indefinitely on the first day of spring practice Friday for an unspecified violation of team rules.
Coach Clint Conque suspended running back Curtis Marks, defensive backs Henry Minor and Carlos Smith, and defensive lineman Norvel Gabriel, all freshmen last year, and also sophomore defensive back Phillip Johnson.
Athletic director Brad Teague said in a statement the players were suspended, pending further investigation.
``It's unfortunate that young people make mistakes and make bad decisions, but we appreciate the swift manner in which coach Clint Conque handled the situation,'' Teague said.
The Bears finished second in the Southland Conference last season.
