STANFORD, Calif. (AP) – New Stanford coach David Shaw is finally about to hit the practice field. Andrew Luck is back after putting off being the NFL draft’s likely No. 1 pick, and several starters return from a 12-1 team that won the Orange Bowl.
This is no ordinary spring on The Farm.
For as much as the Cardinal accomplished last season, Shaw says it’s time to move past previous success and look forward. There are still some key spots to fill and position battles to work out when Stanford begins spring practice Monday.
Among the most glaring positions to fill are receivers, offensive linemen and kicker. Shaw, who replaced Jim Harbaugh after he left for the San Francisco 49ers, says he wants to put his stamp on the program this spring and hopes players do the same.
