IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - A four-win season has led to another shake-up on Iowa's coaching staff.
The Hawkeyes announced Thursday they have hired former Colorado assistant Bobby Kennedy as their wide receivers coach and added Jim Reid as a defensive assistant.
The Hawkeyes also announced the departure of running backs coach Lester Erb , though no reason for his departure was given.
Former Iowa assistant Darrell Wilson was hired by Rutgers Wednesday.
``I am very appreciative of Lester and Darrell's many positive contributions to Iowa football over the years and wish them both the best moving forward,'' coach Kirk Ferentz said. ``I am excited to have Bobby and Jim join our staff. Both men have coaching experiences that will complement and supplement our staff and team in a positive way.''
The moves mark the second straight season Ferentz has made major changes to his staff.
Last year, the Hawkeyes hired new offensive and defensive coordinators, and then went 4-8 with a six-game losing streak to end the 2012 season.
Kennedy spent the past two seasons with the Buffaloes after working with current Iowa offensive coordinator Greg Davis for seven years at Texas. He replaces Erik Campbell, who left the program after last season.
Kennedy has also worked at Arizona, Wake Forest, Illinois and Penn State.
Reid was the associate head coach and defensive coordinator at Virginia from 2010-12. Reid also spent 17 years as a head coach at VMI, UMass and Richmond.
Erb spent 13 seasons with Ferentz at Iowa, the last five working with the running backs.
