Coach Chris Petersen and Boise State are proving they’re not just an anomaly because of their blue turf.
Despite finishing the last three seasons ranked no worse than 11th in the AP Top 25, the Broncos can’t crack the top 50 when it comes to signing day.
That’s fine by Petersen. He likes the Broncos’ track record of finding under-appreciated talent, developing recruits early in their college careers, and turning them into stars.
Petersen says the Broncos are tireless in doing their homework on recruits and trying to uncover the next gem. Recruiting analysts say Boise State specializes in going after good players who, with time and coaching, can match any of the 4- or 5-star recruits all the BCS power schools land on signing day.
