SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) – Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly has promoted passing game coordinator Mike Denbrock to offensive coordinator.
This will be Denbrock’s second stint as offensive coordinator under Kelly. He also served in that role at Grand Valley State from 1992-95, and was Kelly’s defensive coordinator for the Lakers from 1996-98. Denbrock served as interim offensive coordinator for the Irish in a 29-16 win over Rutgers in last month’s Pinstripe Bowl after Chuck Martin left to become head coach at Miami, Ohio.
Denbrock coached at Stanford under Tyrone Willingham in 2001 and followed Willingham to Notre Dame the next season. After Willingham was fired at Notre Dame, Denbrock stayed on his staff at Washington for three seasons. He spent a year at Indiana State before returning to Notre Dame in 2010.
