MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -West Virginia has hired Wake Forest quarterback coach Jeff Mullen as offensive coordinator and quarterback coach.
Mountaineers coach Bill Stewart announced the hiring Thursday .
Mullen has been Wake Forest’s quarterback coach since 2003. He came to Wake Forest in 2001 with head coach Jim Grobe and spent two years working with the offensive tackles and tight ends.
Mullen was one of Grobe’s assistant coaches at Ohio University from 1994 to 2001.
“Jeff is really excited about coordinating the offense at West Virginia,” Grobe said. “It is a great promotion for him and a wonderful opportunity for both Jeff and his family. We will miss the Mullens and wish them the very best.”
Stewart became West Virginia’s head coach on Jan. 3, the day after the Mountaineers beat Oklahoma 48-28 in the Fiesta Bowl.
