STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -Penn State defensive end Maurice Evans has made himself eligible for the NFL draft.
The 6-foot-2, 264-pound junior was held out of the first three games of the season because of off-field issues. He finished with three sacks for the eighth-ranked Big Ten champion Nittany Lions (11-2), who lost to USC in the Rose Bowl.
In September, Evans was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and held out of three games by coach Joe Paterno.
Evans had 12.5 sacks in his first season as a starter and was among the finalists for the 2007 Ted Hendricks Award as the nation’s best defensive end.
