GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) – Oklahoma finally ended its BCS bowl losing streak by trouncing Connecticut in the Fiesta Bowl.
So what if it was against an overmatched opponent that raised more questions about the BCS system? The young Sooners ended that 0-for-5 streak in BCS bowls and have jumped back into the national title picture.
A two-touchdown favorite, Oklahoma made it look easy at times, jumping out to a 14-0 lead after its first two drives and pulling away in the second half for a convincing, 48-20 win over the Huskies.
The Sooners didn’t just end the streak, they stomped all over it. And with just eight seniors leaving, Oklahoma has to be considered among the favorites to win next year’s national title.
