PHOENIX (AP) – The Ducks are in the desert. A little early, too.
Oregon arrived at Sky Harbor Airport on Sunday, receiving a nice reception from Ducks fans after landing about 45 minutes early to start preparations for the program’s first BCS championship game.
Oregon (12-0) had a relatively easy run through the regular season, but faces a much tougher task in the title game against undefeated Auburn (13-0) and Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Cam Newton.
Ducks coach Chip Kelly said the team will go over some administrative details on Sunday, then start the final week of practice on Monday for the Jan. 10 game at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.
Auburn is scheduled to arrive in the Valley of the Sun on Monday.
