Hesiman Trophy Odds
(The Spread) – The finalists for the 2012 Heisman Trophy were announced Monday night. Here is a look at the odds to win for this year’s finalists.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel is the favorite to win the trophy, as he has odds of -550 to win. Notre Dame LB Manti Te’o has odds of +200, while Kansas State QB Collin Klein has a money line of +500 to win.
Manziel is just a redshirt freshman, but he took the world by storm this season, especially when he led the Aggies to a win over Alabama in Tuscaloosa. This season, Manziel was 273 of 400 passing for 3,419 yards and 24 touchdowns with only eight interceptions. Manziel also rushed for 1,181 yards and 19 touchdowns. The Aggies went 10-2 this season.
Te’o has been the leader of the Notre Dame defense this season, as the senior has led one of the top defenses in the nation to a 12-0 record and a spot in the BCS National Championship Game. Te’o has 103 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 5.5 tackles for 11, 7 interceptions, 11 pass deflections and one fumble recovery.

When it comes to history, Notre Dame is tied for the most Heisman winners in history with 7. Texas A&M has had one winner while Kansas State has never had a Heisman winner. Only one defensive player has ever won the Heisman, that was Charles Woodson back in 1997, but he also led his team to an unbeaten season and a national title.
