Public Betting Trends

LSU Tigers
LSU redshirt junior QB Joe Burrow completed 20-of-28 passes for 307 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s 42-10 win over Rice. Burrow (6’4/216) set a career high for passing yards by averaging 11.0 yards per pass attempt against a porous Rice defense. The redshirt junior found Stephen Sullivan for a 38-yard touchdown in the first quarter before hitting TE Foster Moreau for a 13-yard score. Burrow needed today’s big game to build some confidence after getting crushed by Alabama two weeks ago, and the Tigers will look to carry the momentum into next week’s game against Texas A&M.
Texas A&M Aggies
Texas A&M sophomore QB Kellen Mond completed 19-of-28 passes for 236 yards with three touchdowns and a pick in a 38-24 victory over Ole Miss on Saturday. Mond also added a rushing score, so it was a four-touchdown day for the talented sophomore. The last two games were a bit of an adventure — to put it nicely — for Mond, and while this came against one of the worst defenses in football, the signal-caller was much, much improved in this one with his accuracy, pocket presence and decision-making. When Mond plays like this, the Aggies are very difficult to beat. He will face off against UAB next Saturday.
Betting Trends
LSU
The Tigers are 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games versus a team with a winning home record.
Texas A&M
The Tigers are 8-1 against the number in their last nine home games and have covered the spread in nine of their last 12 games overall.
Prediction
This feels like somewhat of a trap game with LSU catching 3.5 points but the bottom line is that the Tigers have been an outstanding play as an underdog this year. They started the season with a 33-17 win over Miami as a 3-point pup and followed that performance up with a 22-21 win over Auburn as a 10-point road dog. They also beat Georgia 36-16 as a 7-point home dog before being shellacked 29-0 as a 14-point home pup by Alabama. The Tigers have failed to cover the spread in their last three games but had Nick Brossette not allowed himself to be tackled on back-to-back runs at the conclusion of the Arkansas game two weeks ago, LSU would have covered that number as a road favorite. The bottom line is that the Tigers have played up to their competition all season and I expect them to keep with that theme tonight.
