Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Cowboys are 5-point favorites to beat the Horned Frogs. The total, meanwhile, sits at 55.5 points. As of this writing, 68% of the public betting tickets wagered on this matchup are on the Cowboys.
Oklahoma State Cowboys
Oklahoma State redshirt senior QB Taylor Cornelius was named the Walter Camp Player of the Week. Cornelius entered the fourth quarter with three touchdowns, and he added three more in the final 15 minutes to lead the Cowboys to a comeback 45-41 win over West Virginia. The redshirt senior completed 30-of-46 passes for 338 yards when the dust settled, and he gets one more chance to make magic happen (vs. TCU) before Oklahoma State heads to a bowl game. Cornelius has 36 total touchdowns to just 10 interceptions this season.
TCU Horned Frogs
TCU HC Gary Patterson said after Saturday’s game against Baylor that junior RB Sewo Olonilua (undisclosed) is likely done for the season due to injury. TCU was hit hard by injuries at the running back position Saturday, as both Olonilua (6’3/231) and Darius Anderson were lost. Olonilua, who rushed for 16 yards on four carries against Baylor, has rushed for 355 yards and a touchdown on 85 carries this season. Emani Demercado stands to be TCU’s top option at running back in the team’s Nov. 24 regular season finale against Oklahoma State.
Betting Trends
Oklahoma State
The Cowboys are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven road games versus a team with a losing home record.
TCU
The Horned Frogs are just 2-9 at the betting window in their last 11 games coming off an ATS win.
Prediction
This game is eerily similar to the one OK State played against Baylor following its upset win over Texas. In that situation, the Cowboys were favored on the road in a letdown spot and lost to a Bears team that was highly motivated. Following their win over the Mountaineers last week at home as a 6.5-point dog, the Cowboys again find themselves in a spot where they’re favored on the road against a lesser opponent. That said, just like the Bears were motivated to pull off the upset in front of their home crowd, the Frogs could become bowl eligible with a win tonight. OK State has played up and down to the level of its opponent all season. While TCU has had a year to forget, I like the Frogs to at least cover tonight.
