LSU still unbeaten
The LSU Tigers continued their unbeaten season last weekend with a 58-37 win at Ole Miss in a potential trap game following a win at Alabama. LSU is 10-0 on the season, 6-0 in the SEC, 6-4 against the spread and 7-3 with the over.
LSU has the nation’s second-ranked offense, averaging 47.8 points and 556.3 yards per game this season. Defensively, the Tigers are allowing just 23.8 points and 368.7 yards per contest. Joe Burrow is one of the Heisman frontrunners right now as he has thrown for 3,687 yards and 38 touchdowns with just six interceptions. He has a pair of 1,000-yard receivers in Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson. The two have combined for 24 touchdowns as well. Clyde Edwards-Helaire is the leading rusher with 958 yards and 12 touchdowns. Edwards-Helaire is listed as questionable for this game due to an undisclosed injury.
Arkansas falling apart
Arkansas is coming off a 45-19 loss at home to Western Kentucky two weeks ago and the Razorbacks are winless in the SEC. That led the university to fire coach Chad Morris a week ago and search for his permanent replacement. Arkansas comes into this game 2-8 on the season, 0-6 in the SEC, 2-8 against the spread and 6-4 with the under.
The Razorbacks are averaging just 22.3 points and 353.6 yards per game on offense this season while giving up 36.2 points and 447.3 yards per game on defense. The team is being led this year by Rakeem Boyd, who has rushed for 1,005 yards and eight touchdowns. John Stephen Jones was named starting QB a few weeks ago, but he is just 13 of 26 passing for 101 yards this year. Cheyenne O’Grady is the top receiver with 33 catches for 372 yards and three touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
LSU
The Tigers are 14-6 against the spread in their last 20 conference games, but just 2-5 ATS in their last seven at home.
Arkansas
The Razorbacks have failed to cover in four straight conference games and in five straight after a loss.
Prediction:
LSU has won three straight against Arkansas, but the Razorbacks have covered the spread in seven of the last 10 in this series. LSU has been very impressive with the ball this year, but the Tigers haven’t been blowing teams out like Ohio State. They only have two wins of 40 points or more and that was against non-conference opponents. While I think LSU should have an easy time today, I think they will be conservative and probably bring in some bench players in the second half. The Tigers also haven’t pitched any shutouts this year, so I look for the Razorbacks to score some points and cover this lofty spread.
