Rutgers making a run

No. 25 Rutgers looks to add to its three-game winning streak on Saturday when the Knights face Syracuse at 3:30PM ET from The Carrier Dome.

Bet Rutgers at Syracuse
The Knights are 7-2 this season and 4-5 against the point spread odds. Rutgers has won seven of its last eight and covered in three-straight games. Rutgers has won its last four games with Syracuse by an average of 24 points.

Syracuse is 3-7 this year and 5-5 against the point spread odds. The Orange have lost three straight and five of their last six while covering in two of their last four.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL have made Rutgers 8.5-point road favorites over Syracuse on Saturday night. The over/under total for this game has been established at 42.5.

Rutgers is scoring 29 points per-game behind a strong rushing attack. Joe Martinek has rushed for 729 yards and eight touchdowns this season. Syracuse is allowing 26.6 points per-game, but has a solid rushing defense that is giving up just 99 yards per-game on the ground. Rutgers quarterback Tom Savage will have to make some throws against the Syracuse defense in order to cover the odds. Savage has thrown for 1,535 yards with 10 touchdowns and two interceptions this year.

The Orange have struggled to just 19.2 points per-game on offense as Greg Paulus has thrown for 1,586 yards with 10 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. The Knights have the top defense in the Big East, holding opponents to 15.6 points and 304.7 yards per-game.

The key to this pick is in Savage’s ability to lead Rutgers through the air. The Orange will be looking to take away the running game on defense and Rutgers shouldn’t have an issue limiting Syracuse’s offense. If Savage can pick up a couple of touchdown passes and put together lengthy possessions for the Rutgers offense, the Knights should be able to cover with ease. With the spread less than two scores, we suggest a pick of Rutgers with the over in this Big East matchup.
