Texas State gets beat down by Troy
Texas State is coming off a 63-27 loss at home to Troy last weekend for its fourth loss in five games. The Bobcats are 3-7 on the season, 2-4 in the Sun Belt Conference, 1-8-1 against the spread and 5-4 with the under.
The Bobcats haven’t had much luck on either side of the ball this year. The offense is putting up just 18.7 points and 327.6 yards per game, while the defense is allowing 33.2 points and 414.4 yards per contest. Gresch Jensen has thrown for 1,291 yards and five touchdowns this year, but is questionable to play on Saturday due to a concussion. Tyler Vitt will go if he can’t. Vitt has thrown or 1,151 yards with eight touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Caleb Twyford is the leading rusher with 468 yards and two scores while Hutch White is the leading receiver with 58 catches for 544 yards and two touchdowns.
App State throttles Georgia Southern
Appalachian State picked up an impressive road win this past weekend, defeating Georgia Southern 56-27. The Mountaineers are now 9-1 on the season, 5-1 in the Sun Belt Conference, 7-3 against the spread and 5-5 with the over/under total.
The Mountaineers have been a solid defensive team this year, allowing just 19.9 points and 330.7 yards per game. Offensively, App State is putting up 38.4 points and 425.5 yards per game. Zac Thomas is leading the team with 1,927 passing yards and 18 touchdowns while also rushing for 348 yards and six scores. Darrynton Evans is the leading rusher with 1,014 yards and 11 touchdowns while Marcus Williams Jr. has 401 yards. Corey Xavier Sutton is the leading receiver with 39 catches for 556 yards and six touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Texas State
The Bobcats are 6-2 with the under in their last eight games against a winning team and 8-3 with the under in their last 11 games following a loss.
Appalachian State
The Mountaineers are 6-2 with the under in their last eight games in November, but 9-4 with the over in their last 13 home games against a team with a losing road record.
Prediction:
These two have hit the under in all three meetings as part of the Sun Belt, as Texas State hasn’t been able to score more than 13 points on Appalachian State. I could see the Bobcats struggling again in this game, as they have been held to 17 or less in each road game this year. The concern for the under will be if App State lights up Texas State offensively. The Mountaineers have been a bit hot-and-cold with scoring. They have put up more than 50 four times, but been held 21 or less three times. I would expect an offensive outburst in this game, with it being at home against a really bad defense. The Mountaineers can probably hit the over on their own in this one.
College Football Week 13 Prediction: Texas State/Appalachian State Over 51.5
