Kansas State slips up at Texas
The Kansas State football team had a three-game win streak come to an end last week with a 27-24 loss at Texas. The Wildcats are now 6-3 on the season, 3-3 in the Big 12, 7-2 against the spread and 6-3 with the under.
Kansas State has been led by its defense this year, which is allowing just 21.1 points and 366.8 yards per game. Offensively, K-State is putting up 32.3 points and 381.4 yards per contest. Skylar Thompson is leading the team with 1,589 passing yards and nine touchdowns while also rushing for 331 yards and 10 scores. James Gilbert is the leading rusher with 558 yards and five scores while Dalton Schoen is the top receiver with 30 catches for 457 yards and three touchdowns. Gilbert is questionable for this game due to an undisclosed injury.
Mountaineers on a big slide
West Virginia is riding a five-game losing streak following a 38-17 loss at home to Texas Tech last weekend. The Mountaineers are now 3-6 on the season, 1-5 in the Big 12, 3-5-1 against the spread and 5-4 with the under.
WVU has struggled offensively this year, averaging just 21.1 points and 329.7 yards per game. Their rushing attack is one of the worst in the nation, averaging only 75.8 yards per game. Defensively, West Virginia is giving up 32.1 points and 421.9 yards per contest. Austin Kendall is leading the team with 1,989 passing yards and 12 touchdowns, but he also has 10 interceptions. Sam James is the leading receiver with 58 catches for 623 yards and two touchdowns while Leddie Brown is the leading rusher with just 227 yards and a score.
College Football Betting Trends
Kansas State
The Wildcats have covered the spread in four straight conference games and in five of their last six home games.
West Virginia
The Mountaineers are 1-4 against the spread in their last five conference games and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight road games.
Prediction:
West Virginia has actually won three straight in this series while covering the spread in the last two meetings. WVU has really been struggling the last month, failing to score more than 17 points. I don’t see that changing on the road against a Kansas State team that has been pretty strong defensively. The Wildcats won’t overwhelm many on offense, but they are good enough to score consistently on West Virginia. I think they can cover this spread with ease.
